Nathan and Dan had launched the casting call a few weeks ago and appear to have had little success with the process. I jumped in this week to relaunch the process, as the production dates loom nearer this is becoming a top priority along with confirming the last few locations.
I have chosen to advertise through Star Now and To Be Seen as both are free casting call websites, and I have experienced success with both of these sites in the past on previous productions. Currently the Star Now advertisement is pending approval, but the To Be Seen advertisement has already seen response from potential applicants. Obviously we will leave it a few days before contacting anyone about the production to assess any other immediate interest.
ITV West Television Workshop is another useful place to scout, especially for younger/child actors. Based in Bristol they specialise in acting to camera and production training for anyone aged 5+. They have a list of cast available, I have sent this forward to Dan and Nathan who can select their favourites so Rashida and I can contact ITV West directly and request further details.
Finally I have gotten in contact with my old school who specialise in media and technology. I know they have a strong media and drama department so I felt this could be a good source for potential actors or extras. We may even find someone to come and join us on set as a runner in the process. My old lecturer is keen to speak about the project so I will arrange to meet with her over Christmas and look into casting or recruiting additional crew.
I anticipate most of the casting process will happen over the Christmas holiday, but I feel confident that we will be able to get casting done ready for the production dates. My concern still remains with finding Elly because of the 21 days to process the license, as a result I have pushed back her first day required on set to the weekend of the 25th January to best accommodate.
